“Thinking Out Loud” is a song by English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, recorded for his 2014’s studio album “×” (pronounced “multiply”). Written by Sheeran and Amy Wadge – and produced by Jake Gosling – the song was released in the United States on September 24, 2014 as the record’s third single.
In the United Kingdom, “Thinking Out Loud” managed to spend 19 weeks in the top 40 before it went up to No. 1 in early November of 2014, making it Sheeran’s second number-one single in the country.
The track also managed to reach the top in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Slovakia, Denmark, Netherlands, and South Africa, as well as being second on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Until “Shape of You” topped the charts in U.S. and Canada in 2017, “Thinking Out Loud” was the Sheeran’s highest ranking single in North America.
It won Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 58th Grammy Awards.
