Hey to everyone, look I don't know much about this "chat" stuff, but new friends are cool. I found this sight and hopefully there will be a few more people find it that share my dream of playing the guitar in such a way you can make people tap their feet and feel what you are playing even without words, ( as I do not have a voice to sing with)   Anyway several years ago I spent a bit ouf time on Beal Street in Memphis and fell in love with the blues and I mean the old style like 1920's and 30's artist. Recently I decided I had to learn to play this music that just moved me! So I went out and found a 28 year old Gibson custom in the original case at a flea market and bought it for about $300 off an old guy who had it in a closet for years! I found that it played great after a re-stringing and a heavy cleaning, however I really liked the old flat top sound though and out shopping I went again and this time I brought home an alvarez acoustic for about $100 from a pawn shop and cleaned it up, put new strings on it and it sounds great! I have a long way to go in the learning aspect, but if any of you know what I am saying about deep down feeling you get inside when you see someone getting what you are playing and if you have any pointers on playing the blues old style, please feel free to chat it up!

Whats up tmond, Yea the blues are a bit different, it was onc said that all you nee to play the Blues was 3 chords, 12 bars and a story to tell! I have found it takes a bit more than that but don't count me out yet! Yea I am looking for a sight that is Blues chord specific myself, if you find one let me know and I will do the same. As for those viewing this don't be afraid to put your two cents in, thats how to meet interesting new people! HA HA HA !

tmond, took a minute, but found a sight you find helpful, it is blues specific and gets down to the basics in a clear easy way! It's a start, let me know what you think? guitarlessonscentral.com

tmond, I have found by using the sight I refured to before, that your heavily used cohords, are A7, B7 and E7 and here there are a few ways to play each! Just a few strumming patterns and I will see you on stage! HA HA !

Once again Daviemac has posted an uneducated, closemined answer to a good question.  I'm no pro but I can tell you learn penatonic scales (blues scales).  Listen to the old timers and try to figure out what key's they play in.  Read a book on music theory or blues music.  There is a structure to music belive it or not and it's out there free for the taking if you take time to read.
