| You've basically got three makers - Martin (been around the longest- 175 years now), Collins, and Taylor. They're all good. Martin has some cheaper series for the budget shopper, but the basic models of all three makers cost about the same. There are some other custom makers, but I'm guessing you don't want to get into that bracket. | ||

| Those are some of the best guitars but i've learned over the years it depends on what you are lookin to do with it. You cant always go by name brand its what feels the best to you. Every guitar is different to everybody. just try a few out. | ||

| it's like whether to drive a Chevy or a Ford, it's whatever you like. My duo partner swore by his Martin but Ihave always thought my old Epiphone sounded just as good. All a matter of opinion. | ||

| I have a Gretsch Historic Series Acoustic/Electric and I love my sound from my guitar. I also have an old Horner 12 string, which I thought had a really nice sound, but I was younger guitar player, and it was my first nice guitar. Then I bought the Gretsch many years later. You can't go wrong with any good guitar from any of the known manufactures, Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, and plan to spend about $400.00 to $600.00 for a nice guitar. Be aware the fender makes many of r the guitar brands I mentioned, with the exception of Gibson. You might want to tour the factories, like Gibson in Memphis to see how they many guitars, its really interesting, and you can see the quality they put into it. JUST DON'T BUY AND ESTABAN GUITAR on QVC. | ||

| Wow. Okay there are other nice guitars guys! I have a Michael Kelly acoustic, yes made overseas, but it looks superb and sounds great especially plugged in! Guild, Breedlove, Martin and Taylor are all among the best now. There are also many custom shops out there making superior quality guitars. It depends on your budget. At the low end Fender is making some decent acoustics these days. I agree with the earlier comment though. The guitar has to feel good in your hands. I always say it has to sort of "speak to you" and perhaps inspire your creativity. The brand does not matter that much really. There's also Takamine and Yamamha who make some nice low to mid priced instruments that many people swear by. Heck some folks still like Ovation. Keep an open mind. | ||

| How about GIBSON people? I have a 1937 L-50 that is fantastic! Of course it's not a hundred dollar guitar. Look at what professional musicians are playing, they play them for a reason! | ||

| Hey JewinDaileg, all the guitars mentioned are all good sounding guitars, but all have a different sound to each other. A guitar that has been played for the last 30 years continually will sound better than a guitar that was made yesterday regardless of the brand name. I believe that the best sounding guitar you can get that has been made today is the Babicz, this guy worked for Martin, has a few great inovative ideas, some you have to get used to. If you can get past everything that is different than your conventional accoustic, (bearing in mind that Martin have also bought the rights to copy the Babicz inovations)you won't find another guitar that has such a deep bottom end, with mild mids and bright trebles, and the sustain is awesome. Good luck | ||

| I have Gibson J45, Taylor 814, Martin OMJM, and a Larrivee, each one sounds and plays differently. It is a matter of choice and feel when you play. At least that is what think. | ||
