| To play a D with f# bass or "D/F#" you would play a standard D chord with fingers 1, 2 and 3. You can then play the F# bass with your thumb extended over the sixth string at the second fret. D is made up of three notes, D, F# and A. You are doubling the 3rd as the bass note in this case. The other way would be to play 4th finger on the 4th fret on the 4th string (also an F#). This is a bit of a stretch and in my opinion does not sound as full. If you do the thumb method you can include ALL the strings in the chord making it FAT. | ||

man i just don't know what you guys are talking about.
i've been around guitar players all my life,and i've been trying to play my 1950s Lyle mo.#680& i have the 640 mo. that macthes it. But i don't know anything , i can play alot of stuff , but i've only just now started looking at pros stuff in books and on here,but i don't understand much. But i'm trying. By the way,I'm 54 yers. old my mother bought that Lyle 680 for my father when i was 11 yers.old its ben traded back and forth between my self and my brother for years. I ended up with it about 15 yers. ago and i will not ever let it go againg. Talk to me. Please |
